Lygon Street:

Believed to be named after Lord Lygon, a British cabinet minister of the 1830s, this street extends several kilometres north from Victoria St, Carlton, to Albion St in East Brunswick.

The East Brunswick section of Lygon St features long rows of shops, restaurants, bakeries, and several textile factories between Park and Albert Sts, originally named Cameron St but renamed Lygon St in 1872.

The Carlton section of Lygon St dates from the surveys conducted by Robert Hoddle in 1852. The street features some outstanding 19th-century landmarks that include Trades Hall.

The Italian influence strengthened with post-war migration, bringing some fantastic bakeries and pizzerias.

The smell of Sugar Cookies, sweet pastries, bread, and pizzas would be floating through the air, attracting customers inside to help fix those sweet tooth cravings.

Sugar Cookies:

Warm butter cookies, fresh from the oven with creamy notes of vanilla, hazelnut and a light sprinkle of crystallized sugar.

Top Notes: Mandarin, Lemon
Middle Notes: Baked Bread, Maple Syrup
